Oregon Clean Energy Jobs Bill (HB 2020)    March 8 is the deadline to submit written testimony to the Joint Committee on Carbon Reduction.  (There will be other chances to comment as the bill goes through the legislative process, but first it has to pass out of the JCCR to get to the next step.)
Renew Oregon has some great ideas for the policy outcomes that will make HB 2020 as strong and effective as possible. Check them out here and then let the JCCR Committee and your district legislators know.

We Say No Way, is burning trash to make electricity a source of renewable energy.  Yet two bills in the legislature make this claim:  HB 2020 Section 10(2)(b) and SB 451. The Covanta/Marion incinerator in Marion County, a few miles north of Salem is the only waste-to-energy incinerator in Oregon. It is the largest single source of climate change emissions in Marion County as well as a source of other toxic emissions. It should not be exempted from regulation under HB 2020 and should not be eligible for Renewable Energy Certificates under SB 451.  Check out our 350 Salem OR testimony about this to the Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources for SB 451 and to the Joint Committee on Carbon Reduction for HB 2020.
